500 kgs banned polythene seized, one arrested

JAMMU, Sept 19: In order to curb the menace of illegal activities from the society, Gangyal Police seized 500 kilograms of banned polythene and arrested one person.
As per police sources, during routine checking at Kunjwani Chowk, a team from Gangyal Police Station signaled a Swift car bearing registration number JK02BF-3672 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops intercepted the vehicle after a hot chase.
During checking, police recovered 500 kilograms of banned polythene from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Sunny Mahajan, son of Sat Paul Gupta, a resident of Trikuta Nagar Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 81/18 under Sections 188 RPC and 6/7/10 J&K Non Biodegradable Management Handling and Disposable Act 2007 has been registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali and Incharge Greater Kailash Police Post SI Vicky Thappa made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani, Incharge SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
