51 bovine animals rescued, 5 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Apr 1: Udhampur Police foiled several attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 51 animals besides arresting five smugglers.
During two different nakas at Roundomail and Jakhani, Police party of PP Roundomail and PS Udhampur, led by Insp Chanchal Singh and assisted by SI Kaku Ram, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs Udhampur, intercepted two groups of bovine animals, which were being taken on foot towards Kashmir . Fourteen bovines were rescued at Roundomail and three at Jakhani naka.
The bovine smugglers, identified as Noor Mohd, son of Neema of Channi Morh, Arfan Khan, son of Mohd Noorani of Khossar and Amzar Ali, son of Mohd Sharif of Kundra, Reasi were arrested on the spot. In this regards, two cases were registered under relevant section of law at PS Udhampur.
Another smuggling bid was foiled by a Police team of PS Rehambal, led by SHO Chaman Gorka. During naka checking, police party signalled to stop a truck bearing registration number JK04A- 9808. However, the driver broke the barrier and managed to escape leaving behind truck .
During checking, 26 bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle. Police rescued the animals and seized the vehicle. In this regard, case FIR number 66/21 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA, 2/3 PDPP Act has been registered at PS Rehambal.
Similarly, a police team of Battal naka point, led by SHO Majalta, Insp Virender Gupta, rescued one group of eight bovine animals , which were also being taken by smugglers on foot towards Kashmir without any valid permission. The smugglers namely Nazam Din , son of Gh Hussain of Sangam and Mohd Mudasir, son of Mohd Shabir of Daru were arrested and a case under relevant section of law has been registered at PS Majalta.
