JAMMU, Mar 5: Traffic Police National Highway today conducted drive against traffic violations in Kishtwar district during which 520 vehicles were challaned and, significantly, three First Information Reports (FIRs) were also lodged for extreme violations of traffic laws.
SSP Traffic National Highway Jatinder Singh Johar said during the drive the Traffic Police officials’ challaned 520 vehicles and realized a fine of Rs 1.76 lakh.
Fifteen vehicles were seized for violation of traffic laws while three FIRs were registered with police against the violators of traffic laws.
The drive was conducted following reports that several vehicles operators were indulging in violation of traffic laws, Johar said, adding that the drive against violators of traffic laws will continue.
After the drive, Traffic Police officials conducted awareness drive for the vehicles operators, both commercial and private, and briefed them to strictly observe traffic laws to avoid hefty fines.
