KATHUA, Jan 24: Kathua police achieved another success within 24 hrs after seizing 53.700 kgs of poppy straw approximately along with arrest of the drug peddler in the jurisdictional area of Police Station, Billawar. The vehicle loaded with apples was also seized on spot.
A police party of Police Post, Ramkot under the supervision of Inspector, Yash Pal while performing Naka/checking duty in its jurisdictional area noticed a suspicious vehicle bearing registration number PB35Q-1459 which was signaled to stop for checking.
On thorough checking, two sacks of 53.740 kgs approximately were found which were filled with poppy straw. The police seized the contraband on the spot.
Later on, accused disclosed his identity as Harjinder Singh, S/o Parminder Singh, R/o Behbowal Chhanian tehsil, Dasuya district, Hoshiarpur (Punjab) who was arrested.
A case FIR No. 13/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered and further investigation initiated.
