54 cross sides on LoC

SRINAGAR, Oct 28:
Twelve fresh guests from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector while 14 Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the border to meet their relatives separated in 1947.
As many as 28 returnees also crossed side on the LoC after completing their stay, official sources told UNI today.
They said 12 fresh PoK residents arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge in Uri sector. Seven Kashmiri residents, including two women, who had gone to PoK also returned to their homes after completing stay across the LoC with their relatives, separated due to partition.
Sources said 14 Kashmiris, including three women and a child, crossed over to other side in the Karvan-e-Aman bus operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK, to meet their relatives.
They said 21 PoK residents, who had come here in previous buses, also returned to their homes after completing stay in Kashmir. They included seven women and two children. The bus service, flagged off by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on April 7,2005 has helped thousands of families, divided in 1947 due to partition to meet each other after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of state subjects living on either side of the LoC on travel permits instead of International passport. However, travel documents are issued only after intelligence agencies from both the countries clear the names. (UNI)
