MENDHAR, May 27: 55 fresh cases of diarrhoea were reported in Sub District Hospital Mendhar today while PHE authorities have failed to provide any inputs to the District of Sub Divisional Administration or CMO Poonch, regarding quality of water being supplied by them in the area.
CMO Poonch, Dr Mumtaz Bhatti said that since last night, a total 55 fresh cases of diarrhoea have been reported in Mendhar Sub Division. He said the epidemic is still on the rise and Medical teams from the district have been pressed into service.
The CMO disclosed that there was still shortage of Glucose bottles and drip sets besides other medicines in Mendhar Hospitals . He said the supplies provided by the Directorate of Health Services Jammu were not sufficient. Dr Bhatti said that he paid visit to the area thrice and directed the Medical staff to provide every possible help to the patients. Their leave has also been cancelled.
CMO also claimed that neither I/C AEE PHE Mendhar nor I/C Executive Engineer PHE, Poonch, intimated him regarding quality of the water being supplied in Mendhar area despite their claim that more than three dozen samples of water have been lifted by them during last five days for testing. He said that a team from Jammu had also been sent by the Director Heath Services and they have also taken some water samples. The detail of results is still awaited, he added.
