55 Panchs, Sarpanchs in Ramsoo Block resign

SRINAGAR, Oct 8: At least 55 Panch and Sarpanchs in Block Ramsoo in District Banihal today tendered their resignation as a form of protest against the administration for allegedly creating hurdles in the way of developmental works.
The Panch and Sarpanchs who tendered their resignations said that their pending demands are not being met while as the payments of various works that have been carried out is also lying pending.
They said that while they are not being heard, and their issues are not being addressed, “they do have a moral right of occupying the position,” they said.
They said that the people are bringing the issue to their notice and the same are taken up with the administration, “but nothing happens, we end up not addressing the issues of people in our areas, what is the fun of us being there,” they said.
They said that they have resigned in protest against the highhandedness of the administration. “We will not go back to work until the Panchayati Raj Act isn’t implemented in letter and spirit,” they said.
