58 bovines rescued, 2 smugglers held

POONCH, May 13: The police foiled attempts of bovine smuggling in district Poonch and rescued 58 bovines from the clutches of smugglers.
On the directions of SSP Poonch, Rohit Baskotra teams headed by  DySP Surankote, Hamid Ali,  SHO Police Surankote, Rajveer Singh and I/C PP Behramgalla Rajat Nanawat established nakas at Behramgalla.
During checking they apprehended one bovine smugglers namely Mohd Iqbal, son of Mohd Bashir, resident Thanamandi, Rajouri who was trying to smuggle 50 bovines on foot.
All bovines were rescued. On checking, they were found without any permission. On this FIR has been registered at PS Surankote u/s 188/IPC/11PC Act.
Another police team rescued 8 bovines  from the clutches of bovine smugglers in Poonch area. The police team during special Naka at TCP Poonch, intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK12C 0870, which was driven by Mohd Zabir, son of Mohd Younus from Banpat in Tehsil Haveli. On checking, it was found that 08 bovine animals were loaded with utmost cruelty in starvation and were being illegally transported to Kashmir from Poonch without any permission.
In this connection case  FIR No 58 of 2023 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has  been  registered at Police Station Poonch.
