JAMMU, Dec 2: Fifty eight percent polling was registered among migrant voters in eight constituencies of Kashmir Valley in the second phase of polling held today.
According to ARO Migrants, Sachin Dev Singh out of 8,750 migrant voters who had filled up their M Forms for eight constituencies of Kashmir Valley, 5,126 have cast their vote at Jammu while 51 people out of 181 voters voted at one polling booth at Udhampur for seven constituencies of Kashmir Valley.
Besides, 30 votes were polled out of 48 votes at four polling stations in NCR Delhi.
He said highest 71. 77 percent voting was reported among migrants from Noorabad Constituency in Kulgam district of South Kashmir where out of 496 migrant voters 356 exercised their right to franchise. This was followed by Kulgam Assembly segment.
In Kulgam 62.01 percent votes were polled i. e out of 1461 voters 906 exercised their franchise, he added.
Giving details, he said among migrant voters 57.93 percent cast their vote for Lolab Assembly Segment, 57.87 percent for Handwara Assembly Segment, 59.37 for Langate Assembly Segment, 58.20 percent for Homshalibug Assembly Segment and 57.31 for Devsar Assembly Segment.
In Jammu 116 polling booths were set up at 21 venues, Mr Singh said, adding one polling venue at Miran Sahib was not used as no voters have reported from that area.
However at Udhampur 51 migrants voted for seven Constituencies of Kashmir Valley as there was no voter from Langate Constituency in North Kashmir district of Kupwara, said ARO Udhampur Ranjit Singh.
ARO Delhi, S K Fotedar said that in Delhi four polling booths were set up at Dilshad Garden, Najafgarh, J K House, 5 Prithvi Raj and Deputy Director Horticulture Shalimar Bagh to facilitate Kashmiri migrants to cast their vote.
It may be recalled that eight Constituencies of Kashmir Valley have a total number 17,015 registered migrant votes out of which only 8,750 had applied for M Forms and rest not.
Among these migrants Kupwara, Lolab, Handwara and Langate Assembly segments in North Kashmir district of Kupwara have 3135, 1319, 2986 and 1614 votes respectively while four Assembly segments of Kulgam district in South Kashmir including Noorabad, Kulgam, Homsealibug and Devsar have 820, 2910, 1124 and 3107 registered migrant votes.
