58 SPOs absorbed as cops, Rajendra stresses for public service

SRINAGAR, June 15: 58 Special Police Officers (SPOs) of Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar districts were absorbed in the Jammu and Kashmir Police as Constables today at a function held at District Police Lines Doda. The absorption was recommended by the concerned supervisory officers on the basis of their merit.
Addressing the police durbar at District Police Lines Doda, the DGP stressed the cops to dedicate themselves for the service of the people and ensure safety of human lives and public property. He said that ”men in khaki” have to maintain high standards of discipline at every level and come up to the expectations of the people. A passionate attitude of the cops could bring the people more closer to police and help in cementing the police-public relations, he said.
Rajendra was in Doda at the last leg of his 4-day visit to Jammu Zone. He said that JKP has been focussing to strengthen its building infrastructure at all levels across the State to meet latest requirements in view of its increasing man power. He said that a mega construction plan has been taken into hand to enhance working and living facilities for the personnel in far-flung areas also.
He said that state police has strengthened all its components including the housing sector and major thrust has been given to equip the accommodations with latest facilities. A number of building infrastructure has been raised across the State which include office buildings barracks, battalion headquarters, police posts and police stations.
After dedicating the armed battalion headquarter at Doda to police personnel, he reviewed the pace of progress of on going construction works in the district being executed by Police Construction Division and Police Housing Corporation. He said that with the completion of these new constructions, infrastructure in both residential as well as office areas would be upgraded. He asked the officers and engineers accompanying him to supervise the works personally and ensure that quality material is used in the construction work.
DGP stressed upon the engineers to keep in mind the requirements of jawans and officers while chalking out the proposals. The ADGP Headquarter, Dr. S. P. Vaid, IGP Jammu Zone, Dilbag Singh and DIG, DKR Range Batote, Garib Dass, who were accompanying the DGP, apprised him about the progress achieved in various development works. It was told that efforts have been put in place to ensure quality material in the construction of these buildings and to complete them within the stipulated time.
He dedicated a gymnasium at Doda constructed by Jammu and Kashmir Police under its Civic Action Progamme for Doda youth. On the occasion, he addressed a gathering of youth and said that JKP has been carrying out varied programmes for the physical and mental development of youth and various activities are conducted for their overall development including sports and cultural activities.
Earlier, the DGP visited Armed Police Complex Garota in Jammu and commissioned the Battalion Headquarters and a Dinning Hall for the jawans and officers. The construction have been executed in a record period by Police Construction Division and Police Housing Corporation.
