586 pilgrims leave base camps for Amarnath Shrine

SRINAGAR: A new batch of 586 pilgrims today left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps for the Amarnath Shrine early this morning despite intermittent rains and cloudy weather.
The pilgrimage was going on smoothly on both tracks, a yatra official here said.
He said 207 pilgrims, including 41 sadhus and five women left Nunwan Pahalgam base camp early this morning for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route.
He said 312 pilgrims left Baltal base camp early this morning for the cave shrine.
Similarly 67 yatris also left in helicopters to the cave shrine today, he said.
So far more than 3.52 lakh pilgrims had paid obeisance at the cave shrine since the commencement of the annual pilgrimage from June 28.
The yatra will conclude on August 21, on Rakshabandan here. (AGENCIES)
