UDHAMPUR, Apr 4: Police today foiled a major bovine smuggling attempt and rescued 59 animals besides arresting 10 smugglers. Five vehicles, in which the bovine animals were being smuggled to Kashmir, were also seized.
Acting on a specific information regarding mass smuggling of bovine animals, a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur Mahesh Sharma laid a naka on the National Highway at Jakheni and intercepted a convoy of five trucks on way to Kashmir. During through search of these trucks, bearing registration numbers JK02AF-7527, JK02AJ-8867, JK02W-3317, JK02AC-2371 and JK02AA-311, 59 bovine animals were found loaded inside these vehicle. The police immediately seized all the vehicles and rescued the bovine animals besides arresting the smugglers who were identified as Liaquat Ali son of Bashir Ahmed of Rajbagh, Kathua, Zalil Ahmed son of Guggar of Galka Billawar, Akbar Ali son of Abdul Hamid of Dhanni Bhagta Katra, Mushtaq Ahmed son of Abdul Aziz of Patnitop and Mohd Anwar son of Kalu of Bathindi, Jammu, Rafaquat son of Bashir of Sutta Pend Hiranagar, Liaquat Ali son of Mohd Dilawar of Dhanni Bhagta Kathua, Liaquat Ali son of Abdul Qadoor of Sutta Pend Hiranagar, Nazaquat Ali son of Bashir Ahmed of Chenani Teli Bari and Fareed son of Hazi Jia of Dinga Amb Hiranagar.
In this connection, a case FIR number 129/14 U/S 188/RPC, 3/PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
