59th year of service

We wish our esteemed readers and well wishers a very happy and prosperous 2023. Daily Excelsior is also achieving a milestone while entering 59th year of its publication, almost six decades of unblemished journalism with a renewed zeal to implement new ideas for best coverage as in the past with a pledge again never to compromise quality and integrity.
All these years, beacon of our success and inspiration has been our Father and Founder Editor Late Shri S.D. Rohmetra, an epitome of journalism, a benevolent human being, who braved the turbulent three decades of terrorism when no one even dared to report but we covered terrorists’ brutalities, suffering of masses and it was him only who with his ethos and alacrity to deliver, stood by nation.
All these years along we have been setting standards of reporting for betterment of public, highlighting various issues, be it corruption or unfavorable policy decisions or tragic moments and we at this moment reiterate same commitment to our readers to serve you even better this year. For us covering every aspect of the news has been a challenge, giving both anti and pro views through series of daily articles from our exclusive panel of expert writers to enlighten the readers with burning hot issues, letting them decide the pros and cons of every administrative or political decision taken.
Last year had been a mixed bag with first quarter again a scare of third wave of pandemic COVID-19 and subsequent quarter saw the hustle bustle of children marching to their schools. For us these are not mere stories but a mission to resolve readers’ how, why, where and when inquisitive queries. Be it fury of unprecedented flash floods or terrorist attack in the din of night or some tragic accident at the remotest possible area our staff ensures you get the latest and correct version of on ground happenings. Once an unimaginable delimitation has been done, Jammu getting its due recognition and our years of fight for Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s honour with relentless struggle for his birthday holiday finally ended, we got the holiday as per wishes of the masses. We exclusively covered the fastrack progress of all the held up projects like Tawi River Front, Artificial lake, Flyovers, Hospitals, Cancer Institute and much progress on Smart City Projects. Terrorism more or less wiped out but unfortunate target killings and subsequent migration of PM package and other employees had been covered with heavy heart.
We have always stood for strengthening nationalist forces and we reiterate our commitment on this issue again what may come. We always highlighted the appropriate policy decisions of the Government but have never backed out in pointing out shortcomings as well. No money for terror meant more raids on fund sources choking terrorism to its last breath in Kashmir but renewed efforts to revive it in Jammu and more specifically drug menace and all these were widely covered, certain suggestions given through editorials and articles, some of which adopted and incorporated by administration. Covering magnificent Air Show, and National Panchayat in the presence of PM at village Palli were moments of high.
The only and exclusive interview of HM Amit Shah with Daily Excelsior was another recognition of our efforts to report impartial views. Sensationalism of news has never been in our set code of journalism. Responsible journalism is our forte and we very well know our responsibilities as the leading publishing house of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, vow again this year never to compromise on these parameters in future also. The year also saw enhancement of Assembly seats for Jammu and Kashmir after finalization of Delimitation Commission Report and it will also be remembered by Paharis as their decades old demand for ST status was fulfilled.
Ladakh has ever been in our heart and year after year our fight for their due rights have finally been fulfilled with numerous development projects of infra, tourism, health, education being accomplished, some being first of their own kind in India and we extensively covered their fight for Sixth Schedule and Statehood.
We have started more interactive programmes related to local lifestyle and culture on our Youtube and Facebook channel which have been widely appreciated, an ever increasing viewership of our online edition (www.dailyexcelsior.com) is a testimony to our numero uno position as a publishing house, all with your feedbacks, well wishes and patronage. Our special thanks to our dedicated and courageous staff who stood by us in every thick and thin moments and they are real backbone of all these successful year after year unrelenting coverage by us for you. We look forward to same alliance of trust with all of our viewers with a pledge to maintain same highest standards this year also.
