6 Army personnel die, 2 seriously injured in accident

ITANAGAR : Six jawans of the Eleventh Garhwal Regiment were killed and two seriously injured when their truck skidded off the Bhalukpong-Tawang road near Sesa in West Kameng district, official sources said today. According to SDPO K Riba the personnel were travelling from Army camp in Arunachal to Tezpur in Assam when the truck skidded off the road on Thursday evening.
The truck rolled down and fell into an 80-100 feet deep gorge near Sesa, about 22 km from Bhalukpong, he informed. Soon after the Army team launched rescue operation and finally pulled out the ill-fated vehicle from the gorge yesterday, Mr Riba informed.
The Army is yet to inform Arunachal Police about the casualties due to the accident. They, however, reportedly said six personnel had died and two others were seriously injured in the accident, the SDPO said.
A case had been registered in an Assam police station by the Army. The case will be transferred to Arunachal Police today or tomorrow. After obtaining the case necessary investigation will be started by the police, he added.
