Srinagar, June 26: Acting tough against the persons involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police today arrested 6 persons and seized 6 vehicles in Baramulla.
A police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Shri Mohd Nawaz assisted by In-charge PP Mirgund seized 2 vehicles (tractor & tipper) and arrested 2 drivers who have been identified as Mohd Ashraf Wani son of Gh Nabi Wani resident of Shirpora Pattan & Shahid Ahmad Wagay son of Mohd Shafi Wagay resident of Tirgam Sumbal involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Jheel Bridge Singhpora.
“In another action, a police party of PS Pattan seized 4 vehicles (2 tippers, 2 tractors) and arrested 4 drivers identified as Shahid Hussain Dar son of Mohd Yousf Dar resident of KP Payeen, Ali Mohd Chakan son of Gh Rasool Chakan resident of Khanpeth Nowgam Sumbal, Ab Rashid Sheikh son of Ab Rahim Sheikh resident of Manglora Kunzer & Farooq Ahmad Malik son of Gh Ahmad Malik resident of Tumarhama Tangmarg involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Zangam Shirpora,” police said.
Accordingly, police said, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Pattan and further investigations have been initiated.
