6 arrested, vehicles seized for illegal mining

Srinagar, Mar 24: Acting tough against individuals involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police today arrested 6 persons and seized 6 vehicles in Kulgam and Baramulla.
In Kulgam, authorities stated that a police party from Police Post Mirbazar intercepted 2 vehicles (Tractors) bearing registration number JK18-5362 and Chassis no MBNBF52ACLD91775 loaded with illegally extracted minerals during Naka checking at Mirbazar Chowk.
The accused drivers, identified as Irshad Ahmad Naikoo and Shahnawaz Ahmad Naikoo, both residents of Chadder Khrewan, have been arrested. Additionally, the vehicles used in the commission of the crime have been seized.
In Baramulla, a police party assisted by Incharge PP Delina, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla, seized 2 tippers and 2 tractors and arrested 4 drivers involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Maroof Ahmad Sofi, Abdul Majeed Sofi, Irfan Hussain Malla, and Mukhtiyar Ahmad Khan, residents of Juhama Baramulla, Hanjiwera Payeen, and Boniyar respectively.
Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at respective police stations, and further investigations have been initiated.
