6 bovines rescued, 2 smugglers held

SAMBA, Dec 2: Continuing its drive against the bovine smuggling, district police Samba succeeded in foiling two bovine smuggling attempts after arresting the two bovine smugglers and by rescuing six bovines at National Highway, Tapyal.
A police party of P/S Ghagwal headed by SHO, Ghagwal, Inspector Sudhir Sadhotra under the supervision of Dy.SP Headquarters, Samba, Tilak Raj Bhardwaj while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal intercepted a Bajaj Auto (load carrier) bearing registration No. JK02AK-1491 which was coming from Kathua side. During checking of the vehicle two bovines were found inside the vehicles which were being transported illegally without any permission.
The accused driver identified as Rohit Kumar, S/o Chaman Lal, R/O Rangpur Sadhera, RS Pura, Jammu was arrested on the spot and vehicle used was also seized. Both the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. A case FIR No. 106/2019 U/S 188 IPC 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
Similarly in another incident four more cattle, which were also being smuggled in a Mahindra vehicle bearing registration No. JK02BN-4681 coming from Kathua side were rescued and the vehicle involved was also seized. The accused driver namely Gurpreet Singh, S/o Joginder Singh, R/O Nai Basti, RS Pura, Jammu was arrested. A case FIR No. 107/2019 U/S 188 IPC, 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
