JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Nov 6: Six Corona casualties were today reported from the Union Territory including two in Jammu region and four in the Kashmir valley and 581 persons tested positive for the virus while 632 recovered.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Kakryal (Katra) Vice Chancellor Prof Ravinder Sinha has tested positive for COVID-19. Six members of a family from Trikuta Nagar, three from Pacci Dhakki and eight CRPF jawans from Bantalab also reported positive in the Jammu district.
A 45-year-old man from Komal Paper Mills Lakhanpur in Kathua district, who died of traumatic injuries suffered in industrial accident in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, tested positive for COVID-19.
A 72-year-old man from Khari Ukheral in Ramban district died of multiple ailments and Coronavirus in the Chest Diseases Hospital Srinagar.
Seventy eight persons today tested positive in Jammu district during Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT). They include six each from Akhnoor and Dansal and four in RS Pura.
Of four COVID deaths in Kashmir, three took place in Srinagar and one in Ganderbal district.
The victims from the Valley include a 65-year-old woman from Lal Bazar, an 84-year-old woman from Natipora and 78-year-old man from Naseem Bagh, Srinagar.
With these deaths, the fatality count has reached 1526 in J&K including 1011 in Valley
Srinagar district with 373 deaths topped the list followed by Baramulla 147, Budgam 94, Pulwama 83, Kupwara 73, Anantnag 76, Kulgam 48, Bandipora 47, Shopian 35 and Ganderbal 35.
With two deaths in Jammu region today, the Corona casualties have gone up to 514 in the region, the highest being 265 in Jammu district, followed by 48 each in Rajouri and Doda, 33 Kathua, 32 Udhampur, 25 Samba, 22 Poonch, 18 Ramban, 15 Kishtwar and eight in Reasi district.
Jammu region today reported 228 fresh Corona cases including 92 in Jammu district, 83 of whom were locals and rest travelers.
In other districts, 23 positive cases were reported from Ramban, 22 Udhampur, 21 Reasi, 20 Kishtwar, 12 Rajouri, 11 Doda, 10 Samba, nine Kathua and eight in Poonch district.
As many as 293 Corona patients today recovered from the virus including 161 in Samba district, 102 Jammu, five Kishtwar, four each Kathua and Rajouri and two in Udhampur district while no recoveries were reported from Doda, Ramban and Reasi districts.
Jammu region now has 38888 Corona cases. Of them, 1557 are active positives while 36817 have recovered from the virus and there were 514 casualties in the region.
Eight Corona positive cases were today reported from the Union Territory of Ladakh—75 from Leh and five in Kargil district taking number of active positives to 752—641 in Leh and 111 in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, those who tested positive in Kashmir include 155 from Srinagar, 38 Budgam, 54 Baramulla, 8 Pulwama, 26 Kupwara, 6 Anantnag, 9 Bandipora, 23 Ganderbal, 05 Kulgam and 15 from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 20,159 positive cases including 373 deaths and 18,412 recoveries are from Srinagar, 6,407 including 147 deaths and 5,078 recoveries are from Baramulla, 6,175 including 5,817 recoveries and 94 deaths are from Budgam, 4,745 including 4,487 recoveries and 83 deaths are from Pulwama, 4,613 including 73 deaths and 4,114 recoveries are from Kupwara, 4,286 including 4,030 recoveries and 75 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,111 cases including 3,893 and 46 deaths are from Bandipora, 3,666 including 3,402 recoveries and 35 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,506 including 2,373 recoveries and 48 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,249 including 2,114 recoveries and 35 deaths are from Shopian.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 5,745 including 4,188 from Kashmir division.
With 632 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 90,537 which is 92.60 percent of the total cases.
The total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached 58,917 including 53,720 recoveries and 1,009 deaths.
Out of 2,439,196 samples processed, 2,341,391 have tested negative and 97,805 positive. Among them 5,745 are active, 90,537 persons have recovered and 1,523 persons have died.
