JAMMU, Aug 1: Nagrota, Banihal and Manwal police arrested six drug peddlers and recovered intoxicants from their possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid a naka and intercepted a Jammu bound Swift Dzire car.
During frisking, police team recovered around 13 kilograms of cannabis from the vehicle and arrested three persons, who have been identified as Ghulam Haider, Mohammad Ilyas and Talib Hussain, all residents of Ahmedabad.
A case under FIR Number 318/19 under section 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation started.
In another case, on specific information regarding movement of some valley based drug peddlers in Banihal area, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka at T Chowk and intercepted two persons, who were coming from Railway Station side.
During checking, police team recovered 240 banned syrup bottles, 600 intoxicant tablets and intoxicant 200 capsules from their possession and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Shahzad Ahmed, son of Mohammad Maqbool Khawja and Kaiser Ahmed, son of Ali Mohammad Mir, both residents of Watergam, District Baramulla.
They had bought the consignment from valley to sell it to the youth of Banihal and surrounding areas.
A case under FIR Number 107/19 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
The arrest was made by SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Hussain Bhukhari under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Manwal Police Post during checking intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB02T-9565.
During checking, police team recovered 4.1 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Gurpal Singh, son of Tufail Singh of Ajnala District Amritsar, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 96/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation initiated.
