6 gamblers held, stake money seized

KATHUA, Nov 16: The police arrested six gamblers and seized stake money worth Rs 11, 600 from their possession at Bani town of district Kathua today.
A police spokesman said that acting on a specific information, a Bani police party conducted a raid and nabbed six persons under Gambling Act. They were identified as Ajeet Kumar, son of Ishar Dass, resident of Sitti, Vikas Kumar, son of Rattan Chand of Bani, Pardeep Kumar, son of Bishamber Dass of Roulka, Sanjay Kumar, son of Tej Ram of Roulka, Sushil Kumar, son of  Krishan Chand of Bani and Manzoor Ahmed, son of Abdul Ghani, resident of Chandal.
The police also recovered Rs 11,600 stake money from their possession. A case was registered in this connection.
Meanwhile, Kathua police arrested one Kanta Devi, resident of Kangdyal village under Excise Act  during a raid today and recovered 10 lts illicit liquor from her possession.
