6 including BSF man dies in Valley, J&K tally 139

13 BSF men posted at Raj Bhawan among 210 test +ve

Srinagar, July 6: A paramilitary BSF man was among six COVID-19 positive people who died in Kashmir today taking the fatality tally in Jammu and Kashmir to 137 while 210 persons tested positive in Kashmir including 13 Border Security Force personnel posted at Raj Bhawan Srinagar.
The BSF man from 33 Battalion died at BSF Sector Headquarters in Pantha Chowk.
Earlier, three persons including a 55-year-old woman from Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district died here this morning. She was case of Rheumatic Heart Disease associated with Congestive Cardiac Failure and Respiratory Tract Infection. She was in IDB on high flow oxygen and was very sick.
A 56-year-old man from Budgam died here at SKIMS hospital Soura today. He was suffering from “HTN, CKD and bilateral Community acquired pneumonia” and was also on dialysis. He expired at 4 am.
A 90-year-old man from Tangmarg area of Baramulla district died at Chest Diseases hospital today. He was admitted to the hospital on June 26 and died at 2 a.m. today. He was suffering from hypertension, cardiac ailments and bilateral pneumonia.
A 65-year-old man from DH Pora died at the SKIMS hospital this evening. He was admitted on 29th June in medical emergency and was shifted to Medical Observation where sample was taken. He tested positive and was shifted to Infectious Disease Block as a case of Hypertension, T2DM with Encephalopathy with septic uremic and B/L CAP. He died at 9.30 pm today
A 75-year-old man from Rafiabad died at SMHS hospital here this evening. He was admitted on July 4 at the hospital with multiple problems and died this evening.
With these deaths, 139 COVID-19 positive people have died in J&K including 125 from the Valley and 14 from Jammu.
Srinagar district with 33 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 26, Kulgam 17, Shopian 13, Anantnag 11, Budgam 10, Jammu 8, Kupwara 7, Pulwama four, Bandipora three, Doda 2 while one death each has been reported from Ganderbal, Poonch, Udhampur, Rajouri and Kathua.
Kashmir reported 210 positive cases of COVID-19 including 13 BSF men posted at Raj Bhjawan Srinagar, five CRPF, three police and one from Army taking the number of Novel Coronavirus positive cases in J&K to 8675.
These include 65 from Srinagar, Kulgam 49, Baramulla 41, Pulwama 34, Shopian 12, three each in Budgam and Kupwara, one each in Anantnag, Bandipora and Ganderbal.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that 2234 samples were processed at the Viral Diagnostic Laboratory of the hospital and 117 tested positive for the virus.
They include 47 from Kulgam, 34 from Pulwama, 13 from Srinagar, six from Baramulla, five each from Budgam, and CRPF battalions, two from Anantnag besides one each from Bandipora, Kupwara, Shopian and Uttar Pradesh.
A soldier of 9 RR battalion based in Kulgam and eight security men from Hq/18 Kulgam also tested positive for COVID-19. Two CRPF men from 179 Bn Sopore , a CRPF man and a lady from 35 battalion of CRPF at Humama and CRPF man from 21 batallion based in Budgam too reported positive for the virus.
Principal SKIMS Bemina, Dr Riyaz Untoo told Excelsior that 488 samples were processed at the hospital’s lab and 52 tested positive for COVID-19 include 37 from Srinagar and 15 from Shopian.
An official said that 41 persons tested positive at Chest Diseases hospital laboratory in Srinagar for COVID-19 including a cop from DPL Baramulla.
Meanwhile, 55 COVID-19 +ve patients were discharged from various hospitals of Kashmir today.
