SRINAGAR, Dec 16: At least five passengers were injured, one of them critically, after a sumo vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident at Gagal area of Kupwara district this afternoon.
A sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK09 8209 rammed into a Deodar tree at Rantisinard Gagal area, resulting in injuries to five persons.
The injured persons were evacuated from the spot to SDH Sogam from where the driver of the vehicle, Aijaz Ahmad Tancha, with critical injuries was referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.
In another road mishap, an Alto car driver was hospitalized after sustaining injuries in a road mishap in Handwara area of Kupwara district.
Two private cars – an Alto JK05J-3377 and a Santro JK09 9301 – collided with each other near Environment Hall Handwara, resulting in injuries to the Alto car driver.
The injured driver identified as Syed Sameer, 24, son of Syed Mohammad Hussain, a resident of Sheeri Baramulla was evacuated from the spot and taken to District Hospital Handwara.
