6 injured in mysterious blast at Kathua

KATHUA, Oct 24: Six people were injured two of them seriously in a mysterious powerful blast that occurred in Ward No 7 here this evening.
A powerful explosion took place this evening in Ward No 7 of Shaheedi Chowk here this evening, police said in which six people were injured and two of them were serious who were referred to GM  Jammu for specialized treatment while others are under going treatment at District Hospital Kathua.
Police said that one Kewal Krishan who was running a shop in the middle of the Bazar had ordered some goods on the eve of Diwali to be sold at his shop. When the same were being brought on an auto riksha and the riksha puller was unloading them suddenly a blast with a big bang took place in the riksha creating a panic in the area.
The people ran for safety from here and there. The impact of blast was so high that the window panes of shop were also broken which caused injuries to the people.
Soon after the incident the senior police and civil officers rushed to the spot to ascertain the situation. Among the officers who reached the spot included DC Kathua Ramesh Kumar and SSP, Pawan Parihar.
The goods being carried in riksha among other things contain crackers, lights, Diyas etc.
When contacted SSP Kathua, Pawan Parihar told Excelsior that the cause of blast was not known as yet and police is investigating the matter. He said the goods were brought in a riksha by the shopkeeper and suddenly blast took place in it.
However, the police has registered a case and started investigation in the matter.
The injured have been identified as Nanak Chand S/o Prabhu Dayal, Sandeep Kumar, son of not known, Karnail Singh, S/o Paras Ram all residents of Kalaspur Kathua, Manohar Lal S/o Utam Chand, Manu Ram, S/o Chano Ram and Naresh Kumar S/o Chano Ram all residents of Ward 6 Kathua.
Nanak Chand and Sandeep Kumar who have suffered grievous injuries were shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment.
