REASI, May 7: Police today arrested a drug peddler from Bakkal area in Jyotipuram and seized six kg poppy straw from his possession.
The poppy straw was recovered during patrolling at Bakkal area by a Police team, headed by ASI Gian Singh, I/C PP Jyotipuram. The accused, Jagdish Singh of Sujandhar Reasi, along with his associate Suram Singh of Lamsoora Bandhar, was on way towards Reasi when Police intercepted them and seized the poppy straw.
While Police arrested Jagdish Singh, his associate Suram Singh managed to escape.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 66/2016 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Reasi against both the accused persons and investigation of the case has been taken up by Inspector Dalip Singh, SHO Police Station Reasi.
Meanwhile, Reasi Police has succeeded in recovery of five liters illicit liquor from the possession of one Vikram Singh of Kanjli, Dera Baba. The accused bootlegger has been arrested and recovered illicit liquor was seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 67/2016 U/S 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi.
