JAMMU, Apr 20: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today posted four more officers of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and two officers of India Police Services (IPS) to Jammu and Kashmir.
All six officers posted in Jammu and Kashmir today belonged to Arunachal Pradesh Goa Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre.
Few days back, the Union Home Ministry had posted two IPS officers of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat cadres to Jammu and Kashmir. Excelsior had exclusively reported that six more officers of the All India Services (AIS) will be shortly posted in the Union Territory.
Four IAS officers posted in Jammu and Kashmir today till further orders are Devansh Yadav, Ayushi Sudan, Minga Sherpa and Rashmi Singh.
Yadav is a 2016 batch IAS officer and was presently posted in Arunachal Pradesh while Sudan and Sherpa belonged to 2017 batch and were also currently serving Arunachal Pradesh.
Rashmi Singh is 2007 batch IAS officer and was serving Delhi.
Two IPS officers who have been posted in Jammu and Kashmir are Umesh Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
Both of them were presently posted in Delhi.
Kumar is a 2009 batch IPS officer.
“All the officers may be relieved immediately to enable them to join their new place of posting,” an order issued by the Home Ministry today said.
Few days back, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs had posted two IPS officers of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh cadres to Jammu and Kashmir.
They are Pramod Verma, IPS officer of 2001 batch of Madhya Pradesh cadre and Sarah Rizvi, IPS officer of 2008 batch of Gujarat cadre.
Pramod Verma is in the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP) while Rizvi is Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).
Sources said that some more officers of All India Services are likely to be posted in Jammu and Kashmir especially from AGMUT cadre.
Some officers could also be deployed in Ladakh, sources said.
After Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh became Union Territories on August 5, 2019 following abrogation of special status of erstwhile State of J&K and its bifurcation into two UTs, a number of IAS, IPS and other All India Services officers have been posted in the two UTs.
“Both the UTs are short of IAS and IPS officers due to different reasons. The shortage is also due to delay in induction of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) and Jammu and Kashmir Police Services (JKPS) officers into IAS and IPS respectively besides delayed Cadre Review which has now been done,” sources said.
“The deployments are primarily aimed at overcoming shortage of officers in the two UTs” sources said.
“Presently, a number of IAS/ IPS and JKAS/JKPS besides other officers/officials from Jammu and Kashmir have been posted in the Union Territory of Ladakh to run the affairs there. This has also resulted into shortage of officers in Jammu and Kashmir,” sources pointed out.
Jammu and Kashmir at present has sanctioned strength of 137 IAS officers which will go up significantly (well beyond 150) once the Cadre Review is implemented, they added.
Recently, the DoPT issued a notification allocating 65 senior duty posts of AGMUT to Jammu and Kashmir in Indian Administrative Services, 70 in Indian Police Services and 58 in Indian Forest Services.
