Srinagar, Dec 7: At least six shops and two residential rooms were damaged in a fire incident that broke out in Zampa Kadal area of Srinagar.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire originated from a short circuit on an electricity supply line passing near the structure and swiftly engulfed the entire building.
The upper floor sustained damage to six shops and two residential rooms. “I heard a loud sound and asked my son to check the source of the sound. He informed me about the short circuit and the fire. The fire spread rapidly, damaging everything,” Mehmooda, an affected shopkeeper, said.
She added that the fire had destroyed everything she had collected over the past ten years. “Everything has been damaged. Everything I had accumulated in the last ten years has been reduced to ashes, including books of my kids,” Mehmooda lamented.
