JAMMU, Oct 23: Sixty more cases of dengue were reported today from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of cases so far this year to 4330.
A Health official said that 20 cases were reported today from Jammu district while 18 cases were reported from Udhampur, 13 from Kathua, 8 from Samba and 1 case from outside J&K. The positive patients include 55 adults and 5 children, he added.
He said maximum 2849 cases reported so far are from Jammu district followed by Udhampur district with 550 cases, Kathua with 347 cases and Samba with 287 cases. “There were 77 cases in Rajouri, 45 each in Ramban and Reasi, 38 in Doda, 25 in Poonch, 7 in Kishtwar, 22 in Kashmir and 34 from other parts of the country,” the official said.
The official further informed that a total of 1376 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals till date and of these, 1257 have been discharged and 81 patients are still under treatment while as dengue has claimed four lives so far this season.
“The dengue cases are rising with each day,” the official said, and advised that citizens should ensure no stagnation of water in and around their houses as mosquitoes responsible for dengue breed in stagnant water.
