JAMMU, Nov 15: A batch of 60 Sikh pilgrims today left Jammu for paying obeisance at Nankana Sahib in Pakistan on the occasion of Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev ji which falls on November 17.
A group of 60 people left the winter capital from Baba Fateh Singh Gurudwara, Gandhi Nagar last night for Amritsar and would proceed for Pakistan from there.
“The devotees will participate in the main function at Nankana Sahib in Pakistan and will also visit Panja Sahib, Guru Dera Sahib and other historic Gurudwaras,” Asa Singh, leader of the batch told reporters.
He said this year 99 devotees from the State applied for the visa but only 67 got cleared out of which 60 are leaving for Pakistan.
“The batch will return on November 24,” he said and demanded that the Union Government should raise the issue of clearing more visas of Sikh pilgrims so that they can pay obeisance at the religious places in Pakistan. (UNI)
