JAMMU, Feb 18: 600 kanals of State land at Kargil has been transferred to University of Kashmir for the establishment of Kargil campus.
The information was given by the Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone while replying to a question of Aga Syed Ahmad Rizvi in Legislative Council today.
The Minister said that against the total sanctioned amount of Rs. 2586.28 lakhs under Prime Ministers Reconstruction Plan (PMRP), an amount of Rs. 1293.14 lakhs has been received for creation of infrastructure for Kargil University Campus.
He further told the House that Principal JNV School, Khumbathaang, Kargil has agreed to provide 4 blocks to the University of Kashmir to accommodate the students till the Kargil campus will be completed.
The University has already taken renovation work of these blocks and are likely to be completed by April, 2014 and the academic programmes shall be started accordingly, Mr. Lone maintained.
