JAMMU, Sept 9: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asserted that internal security situation has improved a lot in the country with incidents of bomb blasts completely curbed while 600 terrorists have been eliminated in Jammu and Kashmir during last three years due to stern steps taken by the Government. It has decided to observe September 29, the second anniversary of surgical strikes against Pakistan launched through four border areas in J&K, as `Shaurya Diwas’.
A political resolution adopted by the BJP’s national executive in New Delhi, which was moved by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, said the internal security situation across the country has improved considerably with total prevention of terror acts across Indian cities as compared to UPA’s rule when bomb blasts occurred frequently in different areas.
“Stern steps taken by our Government in the last three years have led to elimination of more than 600 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Major terror attacks in other parts of the country have been completely curbed. The internal security situation in the country is good,” the resolution said.
“The National Executive (of the BJP) is proud that our leadership has held national interests above party interests and boldly walked out of the Government in Jammu and Kashmir in order to facilitate more concrete action for peace and development in the State,” the resolution said.
The BJP resolution also referred to a group of women, who were beneficiaries of an important initiative of the Central Government called ‘Stand Up India’ from Anantnag, the hotbed of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, thanking and blessing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stating that they had prayed to the Almighty Allah everyday during the holy month of Ramazan for his (Narendra Modi’s) return as Prime Minister for five more years.
It announced that September 29, the day Indian Army had successfully carried out surgical strikes against Pakistan two years back, will be observed as ‘Shaurya Diwas’. It may be mentioned here that Army had carried out surgical strikes against terrorists in Pakistan at four places in Jammu and Kashmir on September 29, 2016 and killed number of terrorists and Pakistani troops, who were sheltering the militants. The strikes had been completely successful.
The resolution also referred to Naxalism saying the region affected by them has shrunk by over two-thirds under the BJP rule while the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has been lifted from many parts of North-East region due to return of peace.
Equating internal security situation with country’s development, the BJP resolution pointed out that foundation for development can’t be laid without good internal security situation in the country.
“By 2022, India will be free of terrorism, casteism, communalism and nobody will be homeless,” The BJP resolution said.
Meanwhile, BJP general secretary and party’s pointman on Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Madhav met some selected party leaders from the State in New Delhi and reportedly discussed the situation following boycott of Municipal and Panchayat elections announced by National Conference and indecisiveness on the issue by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a former ally of the BJP.
He took opinion of the party leaders as to what would be the election scenario in Jammu and Kashmir especially in the Valley if both National Conference and PDP didn’t contest the elections of Local Bodies.
Sources said a couple of BJP leaders were of the view that in such a scenario (the boycott of elections by two premier political parties of the State), like Panchayat elections, the Municipal polls too should be held on non-party basis. In that case, they pointed out, the NC and PDP workers might defy the directives of their party high command and join the poll process.
PTI adds from New Delhi: Expressing confidence about his party coming back to power in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BJP president Amit Shah said today his party will rule the country for the next 50 years.
Addressing the BJP’s national executive meet here, Shah said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win the 2019 polls on the basis of its performance and his assertion was not borne out of any arrogance.
Briefing the media about Shah’s speech, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the party has “corpus of 9 crore workers,” which means it is in touch with 36-40 crore people.
“We need to reach out to 21 crore families across the country, which means we will eventually reach out to more than 110 crore people in the country…In a way we will almost cover the entire population of the country,” Prasad said quoting Shah.
He said the BJP chief assured the party workers of victory in the next general elections as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working hard and a lot of developmental work has been done by the Government.
“Shah told party workers that the BJP will win the 2019 elections because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hard work and then no one can dethrone the party for the next 50 years,” Prasad informed.
Shah informed that Modi has covered 300 Lok Sabha constituencies since 2014 and will cover all before the next general polls.
Underlining that the country has now moved towards politics of performance, Shah said the BJP never relaxed even after assuming power in 2014.
“The politics of the country is now progressing towards performance and hope,” Prasad said quoting Shah.
He said when Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001, the party has never lost an election and continues to remain in the power in the State because of its performance.
Referring to the Congress, he said the party first formed the Government in 1947 and remained in power till 1967, indicating that the BJP has the capacity to repeat the same feat.
