Sir,
Refer news item ‘ He directs of Solid Waste Management at tourist places’ DE Apr 24.
It is a matter of delight that the High Court has taken cognizance of the unhygienic conditions prevailing at tourists places, and directed the Government to issue suitable instructions for effective Solid Waste Management Rules to manage waste.
It is quite important that the tourist places throughout the State are kept neat and clean. This move will not only attract more tourists to the State, but also would save these places from turning into garbage dumps.
The agencies responsible for maintaining these tourists spots should issue clear cut directions to visitors, not to defile the places with wrappers, empty water bottles and other items which may pose a threat to the fragile environment. Besides, each popular tourist destination should have a mechanism in place to deal with the waste solid or liquid in a scientific manner.
It is duty of each stakeholder associated with tourism industry to keep these places free from pollution.
Yours etc…
Amit Kumar
