UDHAMPUR, Jan 4: Udhampur Police foiled a major attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 62 animals besides arresting seven smuggler at near Thard, here today
Based on reliable information regarding bovine smuggling, Police party of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Vijay Singh Choudhary , laid a naka near Thard National Highway area and intercepted seven accused, who were trying to smuggle 62 bovine animals by foot.
Police also seized two vehicles, bearing registration numbers JK02BW- 1969 and JK02CG -9128, which were also being used by smugglers for illegal transportation of bovine animals towards Kashmir without any valid permission.
All the 62 bovine animals were rescued and the smugglers were arrested on the spot. The arrested accused were identified as Mohd. Mirza, son of Hussain Ali of Kheri, Mohd. Arif son of Mohd. Ramzan of Kheri Leddy Udhampur, Zoori son of Mohd Shafi of Thard Bali, Mohd Bashir son of Fateh Mohd of Thard, Mohd Saleem son of Mohd Ramzan of Kheri Laddey, Saddam Hussain son of Mohd Sharief of Bailoo Tehsil Larnu Anantnaag Srinagar A/P Flata Udhampur and Nasir Ahmed son of Gulab Din of Kanga Gandri Ramban.
In this connection, case under relevant section of law has been registered at PS Udhampur.
