JAMMU, Dec 6: The 62nd Annual Raising Day of Homeguards and Civil Defence was celebrated at SDRF 2nd Battalion Headquarters, Gulshan Ground, Jammu today.
During the event, DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu, Umesh Kumar congratulated all attendees and emphasized the crucial role of Homeguards and Civil Defence volunteers as first responders during disasters. He also praised their contributions over the past year.
Messages from the President of India, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Chief Minister of J&K, and other dignitaries were read out during the event.
The ceremony saw participation from senior officers, including Commandant SDRF 2nd Battalion Zahid Naseem Manhas, Director Homeguards Jammu Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, and Staff Officer to Commandant General Atul Sharma. Civil Defence wardens and volunteers were also present.
In Srinagar, the Raising Day was celebrated at SDRF 1st Battalion Headquarters.
There, SSP Masroor Ahmad Mir, Commandant SDRF 1st Battalion, was the chief guest.
Civil Defence wardens, Homeguards volunteers, and officers from the Kashmir Province also participated in the event.
The welcome address in Jammu was delivered by Anita Pawar, DySP and Deputy Controller of Civil Defence.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dev Raj, DySP and Principal of CTI HG/CD Kot Bhalwal, who appreciated the dedication of the volunteers and assured their continued commitment to serving the public.
The event highlighted the critical role of Homeguards and Civil Defence in disaster management and their dedication to safeguarding communities across the Union Territory.
