JAMMU, Feb 28: 639th birthday of Shri Guru Ravi Dass–a revolutionary saint of India was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety at Rajpura Mangotrian, which was attended by thousands of devotees from different parts of Jammu region. The function was organized by Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Rajpura Mangotrian.
Paying tributes to great saint and social reformer, Guru Ravi Dass Ji on his Jayanti, MLA Jammu West and State President BJP Sat Sharma threw light on the life and teachings of Guru ji and stressed upon the gathering to follow teachings of Guru Ji Maharaj.
He also said that he is ever-ready for the upliftment of weaker section/dalit samaj. Dwelling upon the life and teachings of Guru ji, Manmohan Singh, Ex Corporator, Peeran Ditta, President All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha and Dev Raj Angral, Ex President, All India Angral Biradari recalled the eventful life of Guru ji and said that he emerged as a beacon light at a time when the society was engulfed by darkness.
“Those were the times when fellow human beings were being discriminated on the basis of caste and creed”, they said and referred to the great role played by the Guru ji in ensuring that all segments of the society live with honour and dignity.
Colourful cultural items on the life and teachings of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj were also presented on the occasion by the children under the guidance of Sushma Thapa.
