JAMMU, June 24: In continuation to its efforts to curb bovine smuggling, police today rescued 64 bovines from Nagrota Sub Division and arrested six smugglers.
According to police officials, police team led by Incharge Police Post Manwal Vikram Singh intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK14B-4007 and JK21F-4786 at Nadal Naka.
During checking, police team rescued 31 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested four persons, who were identified as Muzaffar, son of Mohammad Rafi of Peerah Ramban, Altaf, son of Bashir of Mansar, Samba, Sarfraz, son of Parvez Ahmed of Nihari Panthi Samba and Liaquat Ali, son of Abdul Rehman of Garh Kamad Kathua.
Cases under FIR Numbers 107/20 and 108/20 under section 188 IPC and 11PCA have been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
In another checking at Ban Toll Plaza, police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Showkat rescued 33 bovines from trucks bearing registration numbers JK05B-5545 and JK02CC-9277.
The drivers of vehicle identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of Ghulam Qadir of Urpash Ganderbal and Ricky of Mashalpur Assam were arrested.
In this regard, cases under FIR Numbers 252/2020 and 253/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
The whole rescue and operation was made under supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma and SP Rural Suram Singh and overall supervision of SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
