64 cattle rescued, 7 smugglers arrested

SAMBA, July 5: In a major success, Samba Police today foiled a bovine smuggling bid to Kashmir Valley via Samba-Mansar-Udhampur road under the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba and rescued 64 cattle with the arrest of 07 accused smugglers.
A Police party of PP Mansar while performing vehicle checking duty at naka Mansar intercepted three trucks bearing Registration Number HR55X-8549, UP21BN-7899, UP78CN-7101 which were moving towards Valley via Samba-Mansar-Udhampur road.
During checking of the three trucks, a total of 64 cattle were found laden inside them without any valid permission.
The accused persons have been identified as Arshad S/o Liaqat R/o Sahranpur, Uttar Pradesh, Mursalim S/o Manjur R/o Sahranpur, Uttar Pradesh, Azeem S/o Nazim Ahmed R/o Muradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Mohd. Altaf S/o Taskhu Ahmed R/o Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, Ishuv S/o Jamail Khan R/o Ferozabad, Uttar Pradesh, Mohd. Najim S/o Kamrudin R/o Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Aleek S/o Waheed R/o Rampur, Uttar Pardesh.
All the 07 accused persons have been arrested. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to Gaushala at PS Ghagwal which is being maintained by Samba Police at own resources. The vehicles used for transporting bovines were also seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 174/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Samba and investigation taken up.
