64 sacks of polythene bags seized

SAMBA, May 16: Samba Police recovered 64 Sacks of Polythene bags at Naka NHW Tapyal in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal which were being illegally transported from Punjab side.

A police party of PS Ghagwal, while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW, Tapyal intercepted a Mahindra Bolero coming from Kathua side having Registration Number, PB13BL-7073 driven by Baljinder Paul, S/o Kulwant Ram of Kakarwal, tehsil Dhuri, district Sangrur, Punjab along with owner of the vehicle namely Jasvinder Singh, son of Dalbir Singh of Dhuri and district Sangrur, Punjab.
During checking of the vehicle, 64 sacks of polythene bags each weighing 25 Kg making a total of 16 quintal were recovered which were concealed beneath the Potatoes sacks and were transported illegally.
In this regard, concerned Pollution Control Department, Samba was informed for further action at their end.
