BHOPAL, Dec 10:
A total of 6,43,144 voters exercised the option of ‘None of the Above (NOTA)’ during the recently-concluded Madhya Pradesh assembly elections.
According to official data from the Election Commission, 2,633 electors chose NOTA alternative in postal ballots while 6,40,511 voters hit the NOTA button on electronic voting machines (EVMs).
NOTA option was most used by electors in Chhindwara where 39,235 voters exercised the alternative in seven assembly segments.
Assembly constituency-wise, Chhindwara’s Junnardeo constituency recorded highest number of voters — 9,412 in number — exercising the NOTA option followed by Barwani’s Pansemal (9,288), Chhindwara’s Amarwada (8,232), Betul’s Bhainsdehi (7,929), Barwani (7,430), Dindori’s Shahpur (7,214), Umaria’s Manpur (6,262), Betul’s Ghoradongari (5,926), Alirajpur’s Jobat (5,689) and Betul’s Amla (5,465).
Lowest usage of NOTA option was witnessed in Bhind’s Mehgaon (245). Others assembly segments with less usage of NOTA include Sagar’s Khurai (384), Rewa’s Teonthar (435), Rewa’s Sirmaur (467), Bhind’s Ater (499), Rewa’s Devtalab (625) and Satna’s Chitrakoot (634). (PTI)
