643rd birthday of Sant Guru Ravi Dass celebrated with religious fervour

JAMMU, Feb 16: The 643rd birthday of Sant Guru Ravi Dass was celebrated with religious fervour.
The celebration was attended by a large number of devotees from different parts of the Jammu region.
Paying tributes to great saint and social reformer on his birth anniversary, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Member of Parliament threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Ravi Dass and stressed upon the gathering to follow the teachings of Guru Ravi Dass.
While speaking, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor JMC, Sat Sharma Former Minister, Surinder Choudhary Councillor Ward Number 29, Manmohan Singh Ex Corporator, Zorawar Singh Chairman Team Jammu and Ashok Jogi, President All J&K Ambedkar Dalit Samaj Welfare Forum recalled the eventful life of Guru Ravi Dass and said that he emerged as a beacon light at a time when the society was engulfed by darkness.
“Those were the times when fellow human beings were being discriminated on the basis of caste and creed”, they said and referred to the great role played by the Guru Ravi Dass in ensuring that all segment of the society live with honour and dignity.
A colourful cultural item on the life and teachings of Guru Ravi Dass was presented by the students of JP Public School Rajpura Jammu.
Among others present were Surinder Kakkar Social Worker, Romesh Angurana General Secretary, Vijay, Mohan Lal Bavoria, Rajesh Kumar, Ashok Langeh, Bishan Dass, Bansi Lal, Vijay Kumar (Vikka), Madan Lal, Mohinder Pal, Hans Raj, Ashwani Kumar, Abhu Angral, Dalip Thappa, Dr Sonika and Pishori Lal.
In the end, vote of thanks was presented by Mangal Dass Dogra, President of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Rajpura Mangotrian.
