JAMMU, Aug 1: Excise Department today seized 650 kgs of banned polythene bags at Lakhanpur from a truck bearing registration No JK03C-2511, being smuggled in the State.
A team of Excise and Taxation Officers –Ravi Thakur, Sanjay Bhat, VS Billowria, Naeem Mugal, Sahil Jandyal and Lekh Raj, Inspectors Excise, Farooq Chowdhary and Ravinder Singh and Sub-Inspectors Excise, Dheeraj Kumar and Brij Pal Singh under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, intercepted the truck and recovered 650 kgs of banned polythene bags loaded in the vehicle.
The whole stock of the Polythene carry bags was seized for further necessary action and the driver of the vehicle, who had earlier declared that the ‘trade goods’ were loaded in the truck before the Assessing Officer, compounded fine for wrong declaration.
