MENDHAR, Jan 5 : Mendhar Police seized 66 bottles of liquor at Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch district today.
Official sources said that during wee hours today, a joint police and army’s 37 RR party was on patrolling and checking the vehicle in general area of Jagal- Banola road and intercepted a van bearing PBO8AK/ 4417. On seeing the police and army party, driver of the van managed to escape after parking the vehicle at some distance away.
During checking the vehicle, the party found 17 bottles of XXX Rum (liquor) and 49 bottles of whiskey which were being illegally smuggled,” police said. A case FIR No. 07/2021 under section 48 (A) Excise Act was registered against the unknown driver.
SHO Mendhar Manzoor Kohli Confirmed that the vehicle and liquor were seized and investigation was going on.
