SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Aug 6 : Kashmir today reported 660 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the tally of cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 4,69,041.
Among the cases, 172419 are from Jammu division and 296622 from Kashmir valley.
Srinagar reported 219 cases, Baramulla 194, Budgam 81, Pulwama 7, Kupwara 66, Anantnag 41, Bandipora 16, Ganderbal 4, Kulgam 29 and Shopian 3.
So far, 4776 people have succumbed to the virus and among them 2346 are from Jammu division and 2430 from the Valley.
An official said that 668 patients recovered today—205 from Jammu division and 463 from Kashmir valley. There are now 5261 active cases— 1357 in Jammu and 3904 in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Jammu division today logged 136 fresh COVID positive cases including 52 in Jammu district, 23 in Doda, 16 Ramban, 12 Udhampur, 11 Rajouri, 10 Kishtwar, five Kathua, four Samba, two Poonch and one in Reasi district.
Jammu region today reported 205 recoveries leaving behind 1357 active positive cases,
Jammu district has highest 799 active cases followed by 147 in Doda, 70 Samba, 68 Ramban, 61 Rajouri, 56 Kishtwar, 51 each in Kathua and Udhampur, 43 Poonch and 11 in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, Ladakh’s COVID-19 tally rose to 28,960 today after 16 more people tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours.
Ladakh has so far recorded 228 fatalities due to COVID-19 since its outbreak in 2020.
Of the total fatalities, Leh accounted for the highest deaths at 168, followed by Kargil at 60.
A total of 3,374 people were screened for COVID-19 in the twin districts and 16 of them – 12 in Leh and four in Kargil – tested positive for the infection.
Two people were discharged in Leh after recovering from the disease. With this, the Union Territory’s total number of recoveries stands at 28,635.
