JAMMU, Oct 24: Sixty-seven fresh cases of dengue were reported today from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of cases so far this year to 4397.
A Health official said that 48 cases were reported today from Jammu district while 11 cases were reported from Udhampur, 2 each from Samba, Reasi and Rajouri district and 1 case each from Ramban district and Kashmir region. The positive patients include 55 adults and 12 children, he added.
He said maximum 2897 cases reported so far are from Jammu district followed by Udhampur district with 561 cases, Kathua with 347 cases and Samba with 289 cases. “There were 79 cases in Rajouri, 47 in Reasi, 46 in Ramban, 38 in Doda, 25 in Poonch, 7 in Kishtwar, 23 in Kashmir and 34 from other parts of the UT,” the official said.
The official further informed that a total of 1403 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals till date and of these, 1273 have been discharged and 90 patients are still under treatment while as dengue has claimed four lives so far this season.
“The dengue cases are rising with each day,” the official said, and advised that citizens should ensure no stagnation of water in and around their houses as mosquitoes responsible for dengue breed in stagnant water.
