JAMMU, Oct 11: Sixty-nine fresh cases of dengue were reported in Jammu today, taking the total number of patients affected with the disease so far this year to 2791 in the Union Territory.

“With 69 more cases in Jammu district, the number of people affected with the vector-borne disease in the Jammu district has raised to 1800″, a Health official said, adding, more than 90% cases have been reported from municipal areas including major hotspots like Muthi (230 cases), Vinayak Nagar (97), Roop Nagar (101), Janipur (80) and Durga Nagar (76).
He said the Jammu district is followed by Samba with 316 cases while 257 cases were reported from Kathua, 120 from Udhampur, 78 from Reasi, 65 from Rajouri, 47 from Doda, 45 from Poonch, 25 from Ramban, 6 from Kishtwar and 12 from Kashmir region. Twenty local cases have also been reported from other states and UTs.
The official further informed that a total of 18759 patients were tested for dengue this year till yesterday out of which 2791 cases were found to be positive. “No death has been reported due to dengue so far”, he added. He further revealed that out of 69 dengue cases reported yesterday, 58 were adults (36 males and 22 females) and 11 were children (9 males and 2 females).
“A total of 344 patients affected with dengue were hospitalized and of them 315 were discharged after successful treatment while 18 are still under treatment in various hospitals across the UT “, the official added.
