7.61 pc votes polled by migrants in 8th phase

JAMMU, Dec 19: Three hundred and eighty four migrants cast their votes in specially established 28 polling booths in Jammu and Udhampur for the eighth and last phase of DDC elections for 14 constituencies of Kashmir valley today.
As per officials reports this is the highest number of voting by migrants in last eight phases of polling.
Reports said out of 384 votes 379 votes were polled by Kashmir migrants for 14 Valley DDC constituencies in specially created 14 polling booths at Government Degree College for Women at Gandhi Nagar here, today while only five votes were polled at specially created 14 polling booths in Udhampur town.
Confirming this, ARO Migrants Anshuman Singh said this is the highest number of votes polled by the migrants in the DDC elections. He said earlier 369 votes were polled by migrants in 6th phase. He said his office had received 5044 ballot papers for migrants out of which 384 votes were polled which is 7.61 percent.
He said the highest number of 138 votes were polled for Qoimoh B in South Kashmir district of Kulgam which was followed by 123 votes in Zainapora II in South Kashmir district of Shopian. Seventy votes were polled for Pampore constituency in South Kashmir district of Pulwama while 20 votes were polled for Bijbehara in South Kashmir district of Anantnag besides nine votes were polled for Pattan DDC constituency in North Kashmir district of Baramulla. Six , two and one vote respectively were polled for Wavoora DDC constituency in North Kashmir district of Kupwara, B K Pora and Budgam DDC constituencies in Central Kashmir district of Budgam. However, no vote was polled in remaining constituencies, he added.
