7 Amarnath pilgrims hurt in road mishap

UDHAMPUR, July 2: Seven pilgrims visiting Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine in Kashmir were injured when a Tavera vehicle collided with road side parapet at Mand near Tikri, on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in district Udhampur this morning.
A police spokesman said that a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number- JK03D-2476, carrying Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrims was on way from Jammu to Baltal, When it reached near Mand in Tikri area, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it collided with roadside parapet at around 11: 15 am today.
After receiving information, a police party led by In-charge Police Post Tikri, Sub Inspector Abdul Satar rushed to the spot and took the injured persons to PHC Tikri where four of them were referred to GMC Jammu.
The Injured were identified as Akshay Choudhary (45), Sunita Gupta (50), Sushil Gupta (59), Madan Lal Sahni (45), son of Gyan Chand; Kavita Sahni (41), Shivali (45), wife of Munish Agarwal- all residents of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh (UP), and vehicle driver Owais Ahmed of Qazigund.
Rehambal Police registered a case in this connection.
