JAMMU, May 15: The seven-day long CME cum workshop on Gynaecological and Surgical malignancies that commenced on May 8 concluded today here at SMGS Hospital.
The workshop was organized by Lajwanti Medical Trust, Jammu under the aegis of Jammu AGOI chapter in scientific collaboration with medical institutions and other health care institutions of Jammu.
The programme covered discussion about the malignancies of the breast, female genital organs and GIT malignancies and workshops to support the improvements of practice of oncology and combat work force issues in J & K.
Dr Sujit Patnaik, a GIT onco-surgeon from Indo American Institute of Cancer & Research, Hyderabad, assisted the local surgeons in colorectal surgeries and Dr Uma Devi, a Gynae-Onco-surgeon from KMIO, Bangalore acted as a resource person for improvement of Gynae-Onco skills. She had discussions with the faculty and conducted surgeries in SMGS hospital and other health care institutions of Jammu.
In the programme, convened by Dr Kasturi Lal, different stake holders were taken into confidence to define strategies for providing effective cancer care facility to the public in inaccessible areas of Jammu region as well as improvement of resources of cancer care in public hospitals.
The concluding session of the programme was chaired by Dr Shashi Gupta, president, Jammu AGOI Chapter, and was attended by faculty and students of SMGS Hospital, Jammu.
