7 Gujjars held for thrashing JMC officials

JAMMU, Oct 5: Police today arrested seven Gujjars for allegedly beating officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) near Pawan Ice Cream, falling under the jurisdiction of Bakshi Nagar Police Station.
A police spokesman said that, a group of Gujjars this morning intercepted a JMC vehicle near Bakshi Nagar area carrying milk samples for testing from Bohri, Talab Tillo and thrashed the officials near Pawan Ice Cream.
Gujjars fled away from the spot alongwith an official vehicle of the JMC to supply milk to a famous shop in the city, he said.
However, JMC teams on getting information regarding supply of the milk alongwith police raided the shop and arrested seven Gujjars and also sealed Labbu Milk Shop at Canal Road for purchasing and supplying adulterated milk to the people, he informed.
A case under Sections 147, 148 and 332 of RPC has been registered at Bakshi Nagar Police Station and investigation started.
