7 hurt as Tata Sumo skids into gorge

POONCH, Feb 17: Seven persons were injured when a Tata Sumo skidded off  the road and fell into a gorge in Mandi area of district Poonch this afternoon.
Reports said the mishap took place when the vehicle bearing registration number JK-12/4520 was on its way to Mandi from Kenoo-Fatepur. On the way the driver lost control and the Sumo landed into nearly 40 feet deep gorge. The driver jumped away and managed to escape from the spot.
The injured were rescued by the locals of the area. The police party from Mandi also reached there. The victims were admitted to Mandi Hospital. They were identified as Parveen Akhtar, wife of Mohd Zaman, Amina Bi, wife of Abdullah, Parveen Akhtar (jr), daughter of Abdul Rehman- all residents of Hari Budha, Rubina Kouser, daughter of Mohd Bashir, resident of Kenoo, Mohd Rafiq, son of Mohd Khan, Alam Din, son of Skakkar Din and Ajaz Ahmed, son of Nazir Hussain from Keno.
The police registered a case and started search for the absconding Sumo driver. The victims alleged that vehicle was over speeding and the driver lost control over it.
