7 labourers injured in pipe blast at Railway construction site

REASI, May 22: Seven young labourers, working at construction site of a Railway bridge at Khouri in Arnas, were injured when a blast took place in cleansing pipes of a machine.
This mishap took place this morning around 10 AM and the injured were rushed to District Hospital Reasi where two of them were referred to GMC Hospital Jammu for advanced treatment.
According to SSP Reasi, the labourers engaged by AFCON Company, were injured when blast took place in a concrete pipe during its cleansing and a rubber ball, which was used for cleaning purpose, came out with pressure along with concrete residual.
Among the injured, five have been discharged after first aid at Reasi hospital while two others, identified as Pawan Kumar, son of Jagat Ram and  Altaf Hussain son of  Shaw Ali of Khouri, were shifted to GMC Hospital Jammu. However, their condition was also stated to be stable.
Other injured were identified as Ram Saran, son of Roop Chand, Prem Singh son of Amroo, Manoj Kumar son of Naresh, Vikram Singh, son of Subodh and Dhani Ram, son of Ram Saran.
While Vikram Singh and Dhani Ram are resident of Khanpur and Bakkal, respectively, all others are native of Khouri.
A Police case has been registered in this connection for further necessary action, the SSP said.
